National Fellowship & Scholarship for Higher Education of Scheduled Tribe Students (NFST) 2024–25

Manipur International University (MIU) informs all eligible students that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, has opened the application portal for the National Fellowship & Scholarship for Higher Education of Scheduled Tribe Students (NFST) for the academic year 2024–25.

 

This fellowship scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students pursuing full-time Ph.D. programs, enabling them to advance their academic and research careers without financial constraints.

 

Key Details of the Fellowship

 

  • Purpose: The National Fellowship aims to support higher education by offering financial assistance to eligible ST scholars enrolled in regular, full-time Ph.D. programs.
  • Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

  1. Must belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
  2. Must have passed the Postgraduate examination with a minimum of 55% marks.
  3. The applicant’s Date of Birth should not be before 01/07/1988.
  4. The applicant must have secured admission in a regular, full-time Ph.D. program in any of the following institutions:
    • Universities/Institutes/Colleges included under Section 2(f) and/or 12(B) of the UGC Act
    • Deemed-to-be Universities under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, eligible for UGC grants
    • Universities/Institutes funded by Central or State Government
    • Institutes of National Importance
  5. The applicant should not have taken admission/joined a Ph.D. program before 01/04/2020.
